Welcome! I am a Canadian children’s writer and illustrator, based in Toronto, Canada. I write picture books, graphic novels, and prose and in-verse middle-grade novels.
Working primarily in digital form, I love to draw cheeky critters, beautiful Godmothers, and unlikely friends … oh, and birds! … and socks … and flocks of birds wearing socks!
Growing up, I drew, read all the books, and practiced cartwheels on my front lawn.
My parents were hard-working immigrants — my mother was a hairdresser, and my father was a music teacher. Although I received plenty of haircuts that I didn’t love, I appreciated the gathering of women and the sounds of classical and Italian music that became the soundtrack of my childhood.
First ‘professional’ shoot. (The photo has not been re-cropped.) My red shoes meant everything to me.
I was surrounded by loving and talented people who shared snippets of their lives. This experience fuelled my curiosity — the beginning of a lifelong passion for connecting through stories and art.
When I’m not at my desk, I can be found on my yoga mat, sometimes upside down.
If you let me, I can talk about yoga for a long time.
I also love reading and spending time at the lake with my family. I live in Toronto with my husband, three daughters and a sneaky mini-Bernedoodle.
